Welcome to my website!
My name is Randall Cunningham. I'm glad that you stopped
by and look forward to providing you with any of my various services such as private lessons for clarinet and saxophone, instruction
in music theory and jazz, original compositions for clarinet, and live performances by two of Kansas City's outstanding wind
ensembles, the "Rondo Wind Quintet" and the "Harmonie Wind Octet".
About myself
I am a professional clarinetist with over twenty years of teaching and playing experience in the greater Kansas
City, Missouri, area.
My formal education was at Indiana University in Bloomington where I majored in clarinet performance and minored
in music theory and music history. My principal clarinet teachers were Earl Bates and Henry Gulick. This education
resulted in three music degrees - B.M. (1971), M.M (1973) and D.M. (1984).
As a teacher, I have served on the faculties of the University of South Florida (Tampa), Central Missouri State
University (Warrensburg) and William Jewell College (Liberty, MO).
As a clarinetist, I have performed with the Indianapolis Symphony, the Florida Gulf Coast Symphony, the
Orquesta del Estado de Jalapa (Mexico), the Santa Fe Opera, the Des Moines Metro Opera, the Kansas City Symphony, the St.
Joseph Symphony and the Liberty Symphony.
Currently I teach clarinet and saxophone at William Jewell College in Liberty, at Antioch Music in Gladstone,
and out of my home in Liberty.
I play principal clarinet in the Liberty and St. Joseph Symphonies, bass clarinet in the Des Moines Metro Opera,
as a first clarinetist in the Kansas City Wind Symphony and as an extra clarinetist and bass clarinetist with the
Kansas City Symphony.
In addition to my teaching and performing activities, I also compose and arrange music for winds.
Several of my works for clarinet (including five books of etudes, two solos with piano, and a duo) have been
published by Woodwindiana of Bloomington, Indiana. http://www.woodwindiana.com
Two of my solos for clarinet and piano, "Variations on a Theme of Haydn" (published by Woodwindiana) and "Variations
on Carnival of Venice (published by The Well-Tempered Clarinetist), have been recently added to the authorized list of
contest solos for high school performers in the state of Missouri.
